清光绪年间,四川梁平县刘牛迁徙达县,以腌卤牛肉为生,无奈生意萧条,只好锐意求新,创制成一种薄如纸的牛肉干,每当黄昏,他就在闹市设摊,专售此货。为招顾客,特在食摊前张一又大又薄的牛肉干,后置油灯一盏,映得牛肉片又红又亮,灯影依稀可见,十分诱人,尝之,则香辣鲜脆,人们呼之“灯影牛肉”。从此远近闻名,流传至今。
During the reign emperor GuangXu of Qing Dynasty,a man called Liu Niu moved his home form Liangping county in Sichuan to Daxian county, He led a life by selling salted and stewed beef in soy sauce ,Because the Beef were not sold well, he had to find out new ways, One day he succeeded in making the slice if been in the front of his stall with an oil lamp behind the beef. The light gleamed through the slice of beef vaguely visible. It presented a very attracting view. When tasted,it was spicy and savory, People gave it the name"Lamp's Shadow(Deng Ying)Beef"it became so famous far-forth and the technique of making it was passed on till now.
